Before founding Big Apple Tutoring almost fifteen years ago, I was considered one of the most sought-after private tutors in New York City. I worked with many of the major tutoring agencies that you might have seen advertised on television, and I was able to observe how these companies were managed and run. I became profoundly disillusioned. I discovered that most of these mammoth agencies hired as many tutors as possible and farmed the tutors out, whether or not they were qualified to handle the needs of the students and the rigorous curricula of the New York City public and private schools. These agencies were putting profit before education.
When I started Big Apple Tutoring, I knew that I wanted my tutoring agency to be different. I handpick every tutor, making sure that they not only meet my stringent academic standards, but that they also share my passion for teaching, education, and the fulfillment of private tutoring. Every tutor that I select is someone that I would be thrilled to have work with my own family.
