homeschooling in Manhattan

During the coronavirus pandemic, schools are being shut down until the situation improves.  Even though this pandemic is difficult, students are expected to continue their education and follow the lesson plans that their teachers provide online.  That being said, many parents are having to homeschooling in Manhattan for the first time ever, which can be an intimidating task.  One of the most difficult aspects of home tutoring Manhattan is preventing your children from getting distracted.  Due to this, we have provided some tips on how to keep your child focused during home tutoring in Manhattan.

Breaks

If your child is having trouble sitting through an entire lesson, it may be because you’re expecting them to work longer than their attention span allows.  If they take regular, short breaks, it will help them to stay focused throughout the lesson, rather than getting restless.

Fun Learning Experiences

Many times, lesson plans depend heavily on workbooks, which can be boring for your child.  Since you have freedom during homeschooling in Manhattan, use the workbooks to identify the necessary information and then make creative lesson plans.  Rather than just writing, you can incorporate oral reports, outside activities, or crafts.

Diet

It’s important to monitor your child’s diet because they may be having a hard time sitting still if they eat a lot of sugar throughout the day.  Alternatively, you should give them lots of brain food, which includes apples, Greek yogurt, eggs, nuts, seeds, and more.

Separation

If you have multiple children, they may be feeding off of each other’s energy.  When this happens, sometimes the best solution is to separate them; they may need to be at different tables or separate rooms, depending on the situation.

Slow Down

If you’re moving through lesson plans too fast, it may cause your child to get confused and lose motivation to keep learning.  That being said, make sure that they understand each lesson before moving forward with other lessons.

If your child is having difficulty sitting still, implement these tips to keep them focused during homeschooling in Manhattan.  Home tutoring Manhattan is probably a new experience for you and your child, so you may have to make some adjustments to find a routine that works for the both of you.
